Jina DeRubbo (Concord '94) enters her 21st season on the Washington & Jefferson College bench as head women's basketball coach in 2024-25. DeRubbo also serves as the college's Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and the Title IX Coordinator. She added the title of Assistant Athletic Director in July 2015.
DeRubbo has been named PAC Coach of the Year a total of 10 times during her coaching career and for the third time consecutively this past year following the 2023-24 season.
W&J has won 73 percent of its games (395-148) since DeRubbo took over as head coach. DeRubbo, who spent seven seasons leading fellow PAC member Bethany before coming to W&J, has compiled an overall record of 526-205 during her 27-year career. She currently ranks 18th among active head coaches in Division III in wins. DeRubbo has compiled winning seasons in 25 of her 27 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
DeRubbo has been to the postseason 12 times at W&J: five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances (2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2022) and seven ECAC Tournament showings (2007, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019). The 2008 team won the ECAC Division III Southern Tournament Championship.
In 27 years as a collegiate head coach (20 seasons at W&J; 7 at Bethany), DeRubbo's squads have competed in the postseason 18 times (9 - NCAA, 9 - ECAC). She has also led teams to seven Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships (5 - Bethany, 2 - W&J. DeRubbo has guided 18 different teams to 20-win seasons, including 15 at W&J.
DeRubbo guided the Presidents to a 23-3 overall record during the 2023-24 season. W&J once again clinched the top seed in the PAC Tournament after posting a 19-1 record in the regular season. Meghan Dryburgh won PAC Player of the Year and gained All-PAC First Team honors for the second-straight year. Jaden Wan was also voted as PAC Newcomer of the Year at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
She helped the Presidents finish with a 24-3 overall record during the 2022-23 season. The 24 wins tied for the most in a single season in program history. Meghan Dryburgh captured PAC Player of the Year honors and was named an All-America by the WBCA. The Presidents earned perhaps its most impressive victory of 22-23 in the season opener at Marietta, who eventually advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. DeRubbo earned career win No. 500 with a road victory at Waynesburg on Feb. 11.
DeRubbo led the Presidents to the 2021-22 PAC Tournament title, its first in 16 seasons. DeRubbo's squad posted another 20 win season and finished the regular season 17-1 in PAC play to capture the top seed. DeRubbo was named PAC Coach of the Year for an eighth time in her career. Junior forward Victoria Koeck was voted PAC Defensive Player of the Year.
